The Leola Lohr Nelson Scholarship was established by her children to honor her. Mrs. Nelson encouraged her children to value education and when her grandchildren came along, she played an instrumental role in assisting them to attain their educational goals, also.
Each candidate for a Leola Lohr Nelson Memorial Endowed Scholarship must be or have:
Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in good standing at Illinois State University
Completed a minimum of 60 credit hours towards a degree
Enrolled in any major in the College of Arts and Sciences
Demonstrated financial need
Submit a personal statement as instructed on the application
A single scholarship award will be deposited in the recipient’s Illinois State University account at the beginning of the fall semester to help cover educational expenses ($1,000).
Applications for the 2018-2019 school year are due to the College of Arts and Sciences office in Stevenson Hall Room 141 by 4:00 p.m. on the first Friday in February.
