A minor in Philosophy is a great way to supplement your plan of study. The study of Philosophy produces critical thinkers, readers, and writers. Consider adding a minor in Philosophy to develop your ability to understand conceptually complex issues, analyze issues critically, interpret and synthesize diverse theories, and express yourself well.
If you are interested in delving deeper into the study of Philosophy, you may instead want to consider a major in Philosophy.
Philosophy provides students with the opportunity to critically examine some of the most profound questions that there are, such as questions about the nature of existence, about our knowledge of the world around us, and how we should lead our lives. Philosophy gives students the chance to think carefully about pressing social and political issues. The program helps develop superior critical thinking and communication skills, skills that are of use to many fields and future careers.
Minors can only be declared by current Illinois State students. Current students can use the Apply to Your Program tool on My.IllinoisState.edu.
Applications always accepted.
If you are interested in a Philosophy minor, contact the Department Office at (309) 438-7665.
