IBA Awards for WZND

Illinois State University’s WZND Fuzed Radio won a total of nine awards this year’s Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Convention held last Friday in Chicago. WZND won awards in the categories for Best Community Service Project, Best Station Website,
Best Radio Sports Story, Best Radio Station Promotion, Best Radio Aircheck, Best Radio PSA, Best Radio Spot and Best Promotional Campaign.
The IBA Silver Dome winners were announced at IBA-U, a one-day student conference for broadcasting students, on Friday, September 9, 2011. The awards were presented at the Silver Dome Awards Luncheon, held at the Phillip H. Corboy Law Center of Loyola University in Chicago, IL.
WZND’s 30th Reunion

Illinois Broadcasters Association Will Be Presenting Check to School of Communication for Scholarship Fund

The Illinois Broadcasters Association will be at Illinois State University this Thursday to present a check for $20,000 to the School of Communication.
Dennis Lyle, President of the Illinois Broadcasters Association, and Russ Withers, President of Withers Broadcasting, will be presenting a check to ISU to create an endowment to establish scholarships for students majoring in Media Management, Promotions and Sales.
The check presentation will take place on Thursday, August 25, at 3 p.m. at WZND, Illinois State University’s student radio station located in Fell Hall. WZND is a longstanding member of IBA, winning over 75 awards from IBA for excellence in broadcasting.
The School of Communication anticipates awarding the first scholarship during Communication Week 2012.
