Two cooling centers offer services in Bloomington
With record high temperatures in the forecast for the next couple of days, more than 120 facilities across the state have been designated by Governor Quinn as cooling centers. These centers will be available to any individual who is suffering from heat exhaustion, or simply wants a place to cool down.
Two of those centers are in Bloomington, one being Home Sweet Home Ministry. Sabrina Buriewicz, Marketing Director at the facility, said that staff members will be handing out bottles of water to residents and non-residents.
Each year Home Sweet Home is the designated cooling center in Bloomington. This year, Buriewicz expects more than 50 non-residents to come into the center during the heat. The ministry is accepting fans and bottled water from local community members.
