How Much Sleep Do Teens Really Need?

February 20th, 2012 by Brittany Jones

In a recent study, national guidelines suggests that teens get at least 8  hours of sleep because that would result in them being more attentive.  However, now it is being said that 8 hours is unrealistic because adolescents are overloaded with homework, extracurricular activities, and part time jobs.  A standardized test was performed and showed that 16 year olds scored best with about seven hours of sleep a night.  The study found that 12 year olds operated better with eight hours and 10 year olds perform better with nine hours.

What about a study suggesting that students do better in morning classes when there is a late start?
