This has been the best post I've looked at so far. I totally agree with everything it says. When I worked at BestBuy 5 years ago, we got a HUGE discount on HDMI cable. It was like an $80 discount or something like that. Back then, I really didn't know what an HDMI was nor did I think I'd need it. Wish I would have. I also have a Mac and really need a mini-display adaptor. Where would be the best place to get one less than what Apple is selling it for? I think 3D TVs are the biggest waste of money, so don't even get me started on the $80 glasses. The ink cartridges tip is probably the biggest help. I hate dropping $30 every time I need it.

I can definitely identify with number 8. I absolutely hate clutter on my desktop. I like having cool pictures as my desktop and having clutter doesn't allow me to see that picture all that well. I think it just comes down to how I like things too. I like to keep things neat. I try to stay off password-free wireless networks too. I'd rather not have some hacker sitting in the coffee shop, waiting for someone to sign on, choose me as their target.

I wouldn't say I spend too much time on Facebook, but it definitely takes up a great chunk of my time. Especially during finals. At some point, enough is enough and I have to give someone my password so they can change it, keeping me from logging on whilst procrastinating a paper or two. Like others mentioned above, I do have a couple of friends that deleted their Facebooks. In my mind not having a Facebook would be a plus during the school. It would allow for me to get so much more work done. I really don't think I have the will to do that though. I like staying connected to my peers too much.

I agree with Mary on this one. Changes with terms on Facebook are quite hard to keep up with. I do like (no pun intended) the idea of not letting pages tell their users "like our post to enter for a chance to win..." I hardly ever do that, but with Facebook threatening to shut that page down if they're only in it to get likes, I feel assured that the contest is real. I thought it was absurd about the ISU page and Reggie haha. I really can't believe they just took the page away completely just because of a picture; no warnings, no notices...nothing. That's taking it a little extreme.

I think, at first, users are going to dislike any redesign on something they use almost 24 hours of the day. Its just natural to dislike change with things like that. Eventually I think everyone will get used to the redesign and will hate when they change. I never really thought about what goes into (re)design until this class. I liked the method of seeing what users thought. Having the user order the posts and explaining why they chose that order is a great way to get feedback. I think it was mentioned in the post about most of the top posts had pictures in them. We are visual users and having that picture to go with that post makes it that much more aesthetically pleasing. Pictures draw our attention the fastest and we usually read something along side of that pic.

Ads are something that web users have gotten used to in the last few years. Advertisements are absolutely EVERYWHERE (mostly). The way I see it, I would much rather have Facebook stay free and have advertisements. Currently, I don't pay attention to the ads that run down the side of my screen when surfing Facebook. If there were an ad offering something that applies to my interests, I probably would still not pay much attention to it. I guess it's an aesthetic addition to have an ad that plays to my interests, though. I won't have to look at ads offering me pre-paid credit cards anymore.

I JUST got Lightroom for my birthday and LOVE it! I got a Canon Rebel TS3 for an early graduation present so I have a lot of fun photos to start editing. I told my friends and family to get me photo editing stuff for my iPad since I had downloaded a version of Photoshop on it. But Lightroom is so much better. It would be awesome if you can get the application for free if you have a serial number for the full computer program. I like the idea of being able to touch the photo in order to edit it. A mouse for a computer is not always reliable but using a stylus or your finger is a little easier to control in my opinion. I personally think this is a genius idea to make Lightroom available for iPad and I will definitely be on the look-out for it!

I'm not a big Adobe user but I'm not surprised by this. It will no doubt change college campuses. With budgets being cut in different areas, it's not expected for a campus to continue to pay a monthly fee for the product. I can see creative colleges that primarily focus on those areas having Adobe products on their campus continuously but for a campus such as ISU to keep their computers updated with Adobe products is more unlikely.
I could have read the article wrong but that's how I took it.

I like the new font of the logo. I think it is definitely more sleek and just altogether flows better. I agree with you though, the comments are the best part! People get so bent out of shape about how much the designer was paid for his job, and while I agree I'm sure it was a pretty penny, that's what he was hired to do.

It's crazy how much work goes into a logo. You really don't think about it too much, unless the logo is very intricate. Seeing the picture of the artist creating various letter "I"'s looks like hard work. But I will say that the new Instagram logo does look a lot better so it was worth it.
