Dr. Hua Ou joins Illinois State University as an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She received her medical training at West China Center of Medical Sciences at Sichuan University, Sichuan, China and practiced as an otolaryngologist at Tianjin First Central Hospital in Tianjin, China before she came to the United Sates. She then received her Ph.D. in Hearing Science as well as a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics at the University of Iowa in 2012.
She worked as a visiting assistant research professor at the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa after graduation. The author of numerous articles in professional journals, Dr. Ou is a research audiologist with specialty in bilateral hearing aids and cochlear implants. She is also a biostatistian with research interests in the field of epidemiology of hearing impairment.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading books and traveling around the world.
