Dr. Gina Schouten joins Illinois State University as a professor in the Department of Philosophy. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Spanish from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana as well as an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Professor Schouten has published articles in the Journal of Philosophy of Education, the Journal of Applied Philosophy, and co-wrote the chapter, “Understanding the Context for Existing Reform and Research Proposals” in Whither Opportunity with Harry Brighouse. Dr. Schouten’s current research focus is on the division of labor along gender lines at home and in the labor market, and on issues pertaining to educational justice.
In her spare time, Professor Schouten enjoys running, biking, and cooking. She is currently enjoying exploring her new home of Bloomington-Normal on foot and on bike.
