Trustee Joanne E. Maitland toured the College of Arts and Sciences on April 23. Through their participation in ISU’s Trustee in Residence program, members of the Board of Trustees spend a day each semester visiting one of the university’s six colleges. Trustee Maitland began the day with a visit to the English Language Institute, where Director Kasia Witkowska-Stadnik provided her with a tour. At the Institute, Trustee Maitland visited a classroom in which students from countries around the world, including Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Viet Nam, introduced themselves to her. The morning’s activities also included visits to the Department of Geography-Geology and the School of Biological Sciences.
After observing one of Professor Stephen Hunt’s classes, Theory and Research in Persuasion (COM 324), Trustee Maitland talked with students displaying research projects at a social issues fair on the quad. “We are always honored to have members of the Board of Trustees visit our college,” said Interim Dean Payne. “We appreciate the opportunity to share with them the interesting work being done across the college.”
