Research Interests & Areas

My lab is interested in the dynamics of bacterial surface attachment, mediated by adhesive macromolecular structures known as pili, which underly biofilm formation and bacterial pathogenesis. Our research seeks to understand how the facultative human pathogen and causative agent of the gastrointestinal disease cholera, Vibrio cholerae, regulates surface adhesion to mediate both environmental and host colonization.
